Computer Animation 3 – Student Critique #1

Sit to Stand – Sara Recktenwald

The movement of the character standing up is very slow and robotic. There needs to be acceleration in the movement of the torso when pushing off in order to get the feeling of a push. The face is stuck in a weird expression throughout the animation. Halfway through the animation, the eyes suddenly look down for no reason. The fingers clip through the leg when he stands up. There should be movement and settling in the wrists and fingers; perhaps have the hands settle off to the sides of the body rather than staying in front after he has stood up. Perhaps add a bit of anticipation before he actually goes to stand up.
